Music director Susan Nalbach Lutz was born and raised in Oak Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where she received Bachelor of Music (voice), Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Music degrees. While at N.U. she met her husband, Geoffrey. They moved to Hinsdale, IL where their three children, Karl, Carrie, and Mary Beth were born. During this time Susan began her private in home-music studio. As a respected singer in the Chicago area Sue continued to perform as a soloist and a chorister with many of that city’s best musical organizations.
In 1988 the Lutzes sold everything except the kids and the dog and moved to Fallbrook, CA, where Sue became active in the musical activities of San Diego. She taught vocal courses at Palomar College, sang in several churches, served on the board of the San Diego Chapter of NATS, sang as a staff section leader for the La Jolla Symphony Chorus and their outreach program, and opened her home music studio. In the fall of 2000 she accepted a position as alto section leader at St. Michael’s by-the-Sea, and in 2006 she became the church’s music director. In addition to her responsibilities at St. Michael’s, Sue teaches piano and voice privately in her home studio in Oceanside.
